I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way--things I had no words for."

"I saw a musician lock away his instrument.  I saw a ballerina hang up her shoes.  I saw a painter pack up his brushes.  I saw a writer fall to a critic's review.  I saw four bodies walking, but the spirit was in limbo of a silent scream.  There's no greater life's tragedy than someone giving up on a dream".

As an adult I've had the opportunity to realize my dream to become an artist.  Having a wonderful husband and family who have always encouraged me to pursue my dreams.  Not having a formal art education I have gained knowledge from art lessons, art books, art workshops and talking with my fellow artist.

It is my belief that we can take all the art lessons, read all the art books and take all the workshops in the world. Really what it comes down to is hands on PRACTICE, and more PRACTICE.  As babies we have to learn to crawl before we can walk.  In my opinion you can say the same thing about learning to draw and paint.

With each new drawing and painting that you create though your mind's eye, you gain knowledge. If you are new to drawing or painting, it really doesn't matter in the beginning whether your drawing or painting is a masterpiece. What matters is that you did your best, and know that with each new drawing or painting, you will improve. I hope that I have inspired you to follow your artist dreams.  I'd love to hear from you.  Send me an email and tell me about your art work.  You can reach me at mailto:robbinstw-mk@msn.com
